Privacy Policy

1. Commitment to Privacy

At CalcChef, we believe that your data belongs to you. Our tools are designed to work locally in your web browser. Most of our tools do not send any data to any server for processing.

2. Local Processing

Except for the tools listed in section 5, all calculations, text manipulations, and file conversions occur within your browser's environment using JavaScript. We do not store the inputs you provide or the results generated by the tools on our servers.

3. Analytics, Advertising and Cookies

CalcChef's own code contains no analytics, advertising or tracking, and does not set cookies. We show no adverts and sell no data. Our CDN adds a cookieless measurement script that reports page views to us in aggregate (see section 4), and the hosting providers described in section 4 necessarily log the pages that are requested.

Your browser's localStorage on your device holds a few things for the site to work: the tools you recently used, the tools you starred, a usage-streak counter, your theme choice, your unit-system preference (metric or imperial) and a flag recording that you dismissed the install prompt. The site's service worker also keeps an offline cache on your device, holding the pages you visited and the site's assets so that the site works offline; it is cleared with your site data. Many tools also remember what you type automatically, as you type, so that the form is still filled in when you come back. None of this is sent to us. The only saved values that leave your browser are those described in section 5: a saved invoice logo URL is requested again when you reopen the Invoice Generator, a remote image in saved Markdown is requested again when you reopen Markdown to PDF, and a saved GraphQL endpoint receives your query again only when you press Run or Introspect. Most tools that remember values include a “Clear Saved Values” control, and you can always remove everything through your browser's site-data settings. Some sensitive inputs are held in memory only and are not saved: the JWT you paste into the JWT Expiration Checker, and the request headers and variables in the GraphQL Query Builder. The IP Address Viewer keeps the last address it saw in sessionStorage, which is cleared when you close the tab.

4. Hosting

CalcChef is served through Cloudflare, which acts as a CDN and security proxy in front of our origin host, DigitalOcean. Like any web host, these providers process request metadata such as your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare also adds its Web Analytics script, loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com, which reports page views and page-load timings to Cloudflare so that we can see aggregate traffic and performance; Cloudflare states that it uses no cookies or localStorage and does not fingerprint or follow individual visitors. It does not read the fields you type in; it does report the address of the page, which contains values when you open a shared or pre-filled link and for the few tools that keep their inputs in the address bar as you type (see section 6). Cloudflare may also add a small bot-detection script to pages, set strictly necessary security cookies (such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance), and receive browser network-error reports. We do not control how these security features behave. Please see Cloudflare's and DigitalOcean's own privacy policies for how they handle this data.

5. Tools That Contact Third-Party Services

Most tools run entirely in your browser. The following tools make requests to other services, which can see your IP address and the data listed:

• IP Address Viewer: requests your public IP and location details from ipapi.co and, as a fallback, api64.ipify.org. This happens automatically when you open the tool. Addresses you look up are sent to ipapi.co. Your IP is inherently visible to these services.
• Currency Converter: downloads current exchange rates from CalcChef's own exchange-rate service, which relays the daily rates of ExchangeRate-API (exchangerate-api.com). None of your input is sent.
• HTTP Headers Viewer: only when you press the button, sends a request to httpbin.org (falling back to postman-echo.com), or to any URL you enter; a custom URL also receives the method and body you set.
• GraphQL Query Builder: sends your query, variables and headers to the endpoint URL you enter, only when you press Run or Introspect.
• Font Pair Generator, CSS Font Preview and Text to Handwriting: load fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com); CSS Font Preview requests nothing until you type a font name.
• CSS Filter Generator: loads a sample image from picsum.photos by default, and any image URL you type. CSS Glassmorphism Generator: loads picsum.photos backgrounds only when you select one of the photo backgrounds.

Some tools also load a remote resource that you supply or that content you paste refers to, and the server hosting it can see your IP address and browser details. For example, the Markdown to HTML and Markdown to PDF previews load remote images or other media referenced by your Markdown, the Invoice Generator loads the logo image URL you type, and the CSS Font Preview sends the font name you type to Google Fonts.

6. Shareable Links

Some tools put your inputs in the page URL so that a link reproduces your calculation. Anyone you share such a link with can see those values, so avoid sharing links that contain sensitive information. Like any URL, the values in a link are also sent to our hosting providers when the link is opened, and they may be kept in your browser's history and offline cache.

7. Links That Open Other Sites

The Share button (on each tool page, the home page's featured tool and the streak dialog) passes a title, a short text and a link to your device's own share sheet when it has one. On a tool page the title is the tool's name, the text is its description, and the link is the current page address, which can include values you entered for tools that put their inputs in the URL; from the streak dialog the text is a sentence saying how many days you have used CalcChef. Otherwise it opens a menu whose items send that link, and for X and email also the title and text, to the network you choose (X/Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn), to your email app, or copy the link to your clipboard, only when you click them. The “Add to Google Calendar” button in the Days Until Countdown tool opens Google Calendar with the event title and date shown, the WhatsApp link generator's “Test Link” opens WhatsApp with the phone number and message you entered, and the map link in the IP Address Viewer opens OpenStreetMap at the location shown. Each of these happens only when you click it, and the site you open then handles that data under its own policy.

We do not sell or trade your personal information.
