Cooking Scale Converter

Scale recipe ingredients up or down by yield or serving size. Convert between volume, weight, and piece counts for major baking and cooking ingredients.

Applications

Scaling a recipe up to feed a crowd or down for weeknight dinners, halving or doubling cookie, bread, or cake recipes without breaking ratios, converting volume-based family recipes into weight-based precision measurements for serious baking, and converting ingredient amounts between cups, tablespoons, grams, ounces, and piece counts (eggs, butter sticks).

Yield Scaling + Density Conversion

First converts the entered amount into a canonical value (grams + milliliters + pieces) using the selected mode and unit, then multiplies by the linear scale factor (desired servings / original servings), then converts the scaled canonical value back into the requested target unit. Volume ↔ weight conversions use per-ingredient density (g/ml). Piece conversions use per-ingredient piece weight (g/piece) adjusted by a size multiplier (small / medium / large / jumbo).

Fun Fact: Linear recipe scaling (multiplying every ingredient by the same factor) is mathematically correct for ingredient quantities, but cooking time does NOT scale linearly — doubling a casserole rarely takes twice as long, while halving a roast can take nearly the same time as the original.
