About the IVF/FET Due Date Calculator
An IVF due date is 266 days after egg retrieval, or after a frozen embryo transfer 266 days minus the embryo’s age: 263 days after a day-3 transfer, 261 after a day-5 blastocyst and 260 after a day-6. A day-5 FET on March 10, 2026 is due November 26, 2026.
Methodology
Due date = retrieval date + 266 days, or transfer date + (266 − embryo age in days). Gestational age = days since the procedure + embryo age + 14, shown in weeks and days. Each milestone is procedure date + weeks × 7 − 14 − embryo age, so the 40-week mark lands on the due date.
How to use this tool
- Pick IVF Fresh to date from the egg retrieval, or FET Day-3, Day-5 or Day-6 to date from the transfer. The day is the embryo’s age on the day it was transferred.
- Enter the retrieval or transfer date. A date that is still to come works too: the due date and milestones are projected from it, and the page counts the days until the procedure.
- Read the due date, today’s gestational age, the days since (or until) the procedure and the dates of the 6, 10, 24, 28 and 40-week milestones.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does my clinic give a different IVF due date?
- Clinics differ in whether they count from the retrieval or the transfer and which embryo age they enter, and your treating team may adjust the date from its own records. A one- or two-day difference usually comes from that. Only your treating team can confirm your dating.
- What is my due date after a 5-day embryo transfer?
- Add 261 days to the transfer date. A transfer on June 15, 2026 gives March 3, 2027; a day-3 transfer on the same date gives March 5, two days later, because the embryo was two days younger.
- How many weeks pregnant am I on transfer day?
- Gestational age counts from a notional period two weeks before conception, so transfer day is 2 weeks 3 days for a day-3 embryo, 2 weeks 5 days for day 5 and 2 weeks 6 days for day 6. Retrieval day in a fresh cycle is 2 weeks 0 days.
- Do fresh and frozen transfers give the same due date?
- They do when the dates line up. A retrieval on March 5, 2026 counted as fresh IVF and a day-5 transfer on March 10 both give November 26, 2026, because the transfer date already includes the five days of culture.
- Is 40 weeks full term?
- The 40-week mark is the due date. ACOG and SMFM call 39 weeks 0 days to 40 weeks 6 days full term, 37 weeks 0 days to 38 weeks 6 days early term and 41 weeks 0 days to 41 weeks 6 days late term.
