About the Betting Odds Calculator

Frequently asked questions

How do you convert American odds to decimal?
For a plus price, divide by 100 and add 1: +120 is 2.20. For a minus price, divide 100 by the number without its sign and add 1: -110 is 1.91 and -200 is 1.50. Fractional odds N/M are 1 + N ÷ M, so 5/2 is 3.50, or +250.
What does +150 mean in betting?
A $100 stake wins $150 of profit and returns $250 with the stake. +150 is 2.50 in decimal odds, 3/2 as a fraction and an implied probability of 40.00%. Going the other way, decimal odds of 2.50 are +150 and decimal odds of 1.50 are -200.
What does -110 mean in betting?
You stake $110 to win $100. On a $100 stake, -110 pays $90.91 of profit and returns $190.91 including the stake. As a fraction it is 10/11 and as decimal odds 1.91.
How do I calculate implied probability from odds?
Divide 100 by the decimal odds. +300 (4.00) implies 25.00% and -150 (1.67) implies 60.00%. You can also type a percentage: 25 gives +300, 4.00 and 3/1. Both sides of a -110/-110 market add up to 104.76%; the part over 100% is the bookmaker’s margin, which is why implied probability is not the real chance.
Why can’t American odds be between -100 and +100?
Both signs are measured against 100: +A wins A on a stake of 100 and -A needs a stake of A to win 100, so +100 and -100 are both even money, 2.00 in decimal. The calculator treats -100 as +100 and shows a message for a price in between, such as 50.
What fraction does the calculator show for a decimal price?
A decimal typed with up to four decimal places gets its exact fraction, reduced: 2.50 is 3/2, 1.87 is 87/100 (-115 in American odds) and 1.33 is 33/100. A typed implied probability p gives (100 − p)/p, so 99.5 is 1/199. Only a longer decimal gets the simplest fraction within 0.001, with a note: 1.87654 shows 50/57.
