Air Fryer Conversion Calculator

Convert oven times and temperatures to air fryer settings and back, in °F or °C, by a rule of thumb: 25°F (15°C) lower and 80% of the time, or the reverse. How it works

Use the Air Fryer Conversion Calculator

Air Fryer Settings
325°F
Time 20 min

Rule of thumb: reduce temp by 25°F, time by about 20%. Check your food and your air fryer's guide.

About the Air Fryer Conversion Calculator

To convert an oven recipe to an air fryer, lower the temperature by 25°F and cook for about 80% of the time: 25 minutes at 350°F becomes 20 minutes at 325°F. From air fryer to oven it adds 25°F and multiplies the time by 1.25. In °C the step is 15°C, so 180°C becomes 165°C. This is a rule of thumb, not a manufacturer setting.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose the direction: oven to air fryer, or air fryer to oven.
  2. Enter the time in minutes and the temperature in °F or °C.
  3. Read the converted time and temperature, and check the food early.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert oven time to air fryer time?
Multiply the oven minutes by 0.8 and round, and lower the temperature by 25°F. 30 minutes becomes 24, 45 becomes 36 and 60 becomes 48.
What air fryer temperature do I use for a 400°F oven recipe?
375°F, for 80% of the oven time. A 30-minute recipe at 400°F comes out as 24 minutes at 375°F.
How do I convert an air fryer recipe to the oven?
Add 25°F and multiply the time by 1.25, rounded. 20 minutes at 375°F in an air fryer becomes 25 minutes at 400°F in an oven, and 25 minutes becomes 31 (31.25 rounded).
Is the 25°F and 20% rule accurate?
It is a widely repeated rule of thumb, not a manufacturer specification, and no source is cited here that tests it. A full basket, frozen food and wet batters tend to need longer than a single layer of fresh food, and models differ in size and fan power. Open the basket a few minutes before the converted time, turn or shake small pieces halfway, and follow your air fryer’s guide for the first batch.
Can I use it with Celsius?
Yes. Switch the temperature unit to °C and the step becomes 15°C, the round figure Celsius recipes use; 25°F is exactly 13.9°C, so the two units can differ by a degree or two. 180°C in an oven becomes 165°C in the air fryer, and 25 minutes becomes 20. Switching units converts the typed temperature to whole degrees: 350°F becomes 177°C, which the rule turns into 162°C against 325°F in °F. The time rule is the same in both units.
What times and temperatures does it accept?
Time from 2 to 1440 minutes and temperature from 150 to 600°F or 66 to 315°C, in either direction; a value outside that shows a message and no result. The tool applies no floor, so a 300°F oven recipe gives 275°F.
