Applications
Convert radio frequencies for antenna and RF design, translate audio sample rates and musical pitch references (A4 = 440 Hz), calibrate motor RPM in mechanical engineering, work with rad/s in physics and control systems, and explore optical THz and visible-light frequencies in photonics.
The Conversion
All conversions route through Hertz (Hz) as the base unit. Each unit has a toBase factor (Hz equivalent) and a fromBase factor (inverse). For example, 1 MHz × 1,000,000 = 1,000,000 Hz, then ÷ 1,000,000 when expressing in MHz cancels out. The same pipeline correctly converts 1 MHz → 1,000,000 Hz → 1,000 kHz.
Fun Fact: The lowest frequency audible to the human ear is around 20 Hz, and the highest is roughly 20,000 Hz — a range of only ten octaves. Visible light, by comparison, oscillates around 500,000,000,000,000 Hz (500 THz), about 25 million times higher than the highest note on a piano.
