About the Subscription Cost Calculator

Annual subscription cost = each price × the charges per year (weekly 52, fortnightly 26, monthly 12, quarterly 4, yearly 1), and the monthly average is that total ÷ 12. Subscriptions of $15.49 and $11.99 a month and $99.99 a year cost $429.75 a year, a monthly average of $35.81 and a weekly average of $8.26. One-time purchases are listed but not counted.

Frequently asked questions

How do I work out the yearly cost of a monthly subscription?
Multiply by 12: $9.99 a month is $119.88 a year and $14.99 is $179.88. A weekly charge is multiplied by 52, fortnightly by 26 and quarterly by 4, so $10 a week is $520.00 a year. Yearly entries are added as they are.
Are one-time purchases counted?
No. A one-time entry is listed so the list is complete, but it adds nothing to the annual total, the monthly average or its category.
Can it tell me which subscriptions I don't use?
No. It has no access to your accounts or your usage; it adds up the prices you enter. The Zero-Cost count is only the entries priced at 0, such as free plans.
How do I find all my subscriptions?
Go through two or three months of card and bank statements for repeating charges, then check the subscriptions page of your phone’s app store and search your email for words such as receipt, renewal and trial. Yearly plans are the easiest to miss, so look back a full year for those.
What happens to a negative or missing price?
Typing a negative price is refused with the message “The cost cannot be negative. Enter 0 for a free plan.” A negative or unreadable price that arrives in a saved list or a link is flagged as not counted and left out of every total; an empty price there counts as a free plan.
Is my subscription list saved or shared?
It is saved in this browser until you press Clear Saved Values. Share List puts every name, price, cycle and category in the link, so anyone with the link can read them. Opening a shared link shows that list without replacing yours unless you choose to.
