How Day-Count Math Works
Computes the difference in whole days between today and your target date, with hours, minutes, and seconds added for a live ticking view. Years and months are derived using the average tropical year (365.2425 days) and average month (30.436875 days) so a span of 365 days reads as 1.00 years, 12.00 months, 52.14 weeks. Business-days mode counts only Mon–Fri between the two dates. Leap years are handled automatically by the native Date object.
Fun Fact: A year isn’t exactly 365 days — it’s about 365.2425 days, which is why we have leap years every 4 years (with a few exceptions) to keep our calendars aligned with Earth’s orbit around the Sun. That’s the same 0.2425 fraction this calculator uses to convert days into years.
