About the Days Until Countdown

Days until a date is the number of whole calendar days from today to it: from October 14, 2026 to December 25, 2026 it is 72 days, which is 10.29 weeks, 2.37 months and 0.20 years. Months and years are averages (30.436875 and 365.2425 days). Counted Monday to Friday with today and the target day both included, the same range holds 53 business days out of 73 calendar days.

Frequently asked questions

How many days until Christmas?
Press the Christmas preset. It targets the next December 25, and on December 25 itself it shows 0 days. On October 14, 2026 the answer is 72 days, or 53 business days with both ends counted.
Why does 365 days show as 11.99 months?
Months are the average month, 30.436875 days (365.2425 ÷ 12), and 365 ÷ 30.436875 is 11.99. The same 365 days read as 1.00 years and 52.14 weeks. Use the day count when you need an exact figure: only days and weeks are exact.
Does the count include today and the target day?
The day count is the difference between the two dates, so October 14 to October 15 is 1 day. Business-day mode counts both ends, so Wednesday, October 14 to Thursday, October 15 is 2 business days.
Does daylight saving time change the number of days?
No. Whole days are counted between calendar dates, so 1 March to 1 April 2026 is 31 days in every time zone. The live hours, minutes and seconds run on your device’s clock to the start of the target day, so that display can shift by an hour across a clock change.
What is the milestone badge?
For a future date it names the first of 1, 7, 30, 100, 365, 1,000 or 10,000 days that is at least the days left, with the date that many days from today. With 72 days left that is the 100-day milestone, Friday, January 22, 2027. For a past date it names the largest of those counts already passed, such as “100 days since”, shown with the date that was that many days after the target.

Counting down, or counting the days since

Pick a wedding date, a flight or a contract end date and the page counts down to it; pick a past date, such as the day you moved or stopped smoking, and it counts the days since. Tick business days when a deadline runs on working days only, such as a 10-business-day reply period.

The share link opens the page on the same target for someone else. The .ics download and the Google Calendar button put the date in a calendar as an all-day event. The target date and the business-days choice stay in this browser until you press Clear Saved Values.

How the day count works

days = calendar day number of the target − calendar day number of today, so a daylight-saving change cannot move the count: 1 March to 1 April 2026 is 31 days in every time zone.

weeks = days ÷ 7, months = days ÷ 30.436875 and years = days ÷ 365.2425, each to two decimals. 30.436875 is the average month and 365.2425 is the Gregorian average year (97 leap days in 400 years). The tropical year is about 365.2422 days, a slightly different figure. The +1 Month and +1 Year presets move the date by calendar months and years instead of by these averages.

Example: 365 days is 52.14 weeks, 11.99 months and 1.00 years. From October 14 to December 25, 2026 the count is 72 days, which is 10.29 weeks and 2.37 months.

Business-day mode counts Monday to Friday between the two dates, with both the start day and the target day included: 53 of the 73 days counted that way. Holidays are not removed. The live countdown ticks hours, minutes and seconds to the start of the target day on your device’s clock.
