How It Works
Each traveler's net balance is calculated as: (shared expense share + individual expenses) - (amounts they paid). Positive balances mean they are owed money; negative balances mean they owe money. The settlement algorithm uses a greedy debt-simplification approach that matches the biggest debtor with the biggest creditor to minimize the number of transactions.
